I dreamed of gothic festivals, so in 2014 I created my own. With basic design skills, a camera, and no network, a homemade ad for Montreal’s Great Gothic Picnic unexpectedly drew a huge crowd and sparked a tradition. That picnic evolved into multiple fundraising events that helped me secure venues, book artists and launch the first full festival. While I handled strategy, design, marketing and staffing myself. Over a decade, Gothfest grew into a national-recognized phenomenon featured in Le Devoir, Urbania, Journal de Montréal, CHOM FM and more, spanning 45+ alt events, 185+ artists and transforming a subculture dream into a lasting brand and community.
